Janal Pixán brings four days of remembrance to Playa del Carmen
Event date:
Planning a cultural outing in Playa del Carmen? Janal Pixán returns for its third edition from October 31 to November 3, 2026, with Plaza 28 de Julio as its venue. The municipal announcement places remembrance of the departed at the heart of the celebration, alongside monumental altars and a programme featuring more than 300 artists.
For visitors choosing a day to attend, the announced contests offer three dates to note: children's alebrijes on October 31, the Pixán Peek dog-costume contest on November 1, and Catrín and Catrina couples on November 2. Parades are also planned for November 1 and 2. These are announced programme highlights, not an invitation to enter: contest registration closed on October 29.
Before setting out, check the municipality's official programme for the day's activities, exact times and parade routes. Use the municipal announcements listed as sources to plan your visit.
